Hi. I’m David Hofmeyr

Stories have shaped my life for as long as I can remember. From Tolkien and Steven King to the Clint Eastwood classics, storytelling is in my DNA.

I can still feel the thrill of finding The Lord Of The Rings, or Salem’s Lot, and discovering all the Sergio Leone Westerns: A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, and my favourite, The Good The Bad And The Ugly.

I was hooked from an early age. But I soon realised that for me it wasn’t just about reading books or watching movies; it was about understanding how stories work.

I’ve spent years obsessing over this question, both as an author of award-winning novels and a customer experience specialist. From writing novels to crafting campaigns, I’ve discovered one truth: the key to effective storytelling lies in the beats that drive all epic narratives. You’ll see them in bestselling books, blockbuster films and marketing that blows the doors off the competition.

As a brand, your story can either resonate or be forgotten—unless you crack the code.

Say hello to The Good The Bad And The Epic: Seven Storytelling Codes to Transform Your Brand.

Whether it’s through an email or a full-scale campaign, the Seven Code framework I’ve created will help you shape a narrative that cuts through the clutter and truly connects.

Too many brands struggle with messaging. They drown in a sea of sameness. Without a clear story, your brand is at risk of becoming just another name in the crowd.

Your brand has a story—it just needs to be unlocked.

The good news? You don’t have to go it alone. I’ve dedicated my career to unlock the codes of great storytelling.

And here’s the twist: it’s surprisingly simple.

The same codes that make epic movies unforgettable and some books unputdownable are the ones that will elevate your brand’s communication from blah to brilliant.

I don’t have all the answers, but I’m excited to share what I‘ve learned. Read the book and let me know what you think.
